Resource Resolution has paid a courtesy visit to the Integrated Social Development Centre (ISODEC) to familiarise itself with the organisation’s work and explore potential areas of collaboration, particularly in natural resource governance and advocacy.
Chris Melville, Co-Founder and Head of Operations at Resource Resolution, said the visit was aimed at gaining a deeper understanding of ISODEC’s operations, with particular interest in its advocacy work around equitable natural resource governance.
He said Resource Resolution had heard and read extensively about ISODEC and recognised it as one of Ghana’s “foremost and historically important civil society organisations.”
“We know the organisation’s reputation more than the substance of its work. We are therefore here to know you better and understand how you work,” Mr Melville said.
Welcoming the team, the Executive Director of ISODEC, Mr Sam Danse, expressed appreciation to Resource Resolution for recognising ISODEC as a key institution in advocacy for equitable natural resource governance.
Mr Danse provided an overview of ISODEC’s work, including the organisation’s new strategic direction and its efforts to promote greater equity and accountability in the management of natural resources.
He said ISODEC’s was currently focused on empowering the Youth (Accountability Labs) and marginalised groups to participate meaningfully in decisions that affect their lives and livelihoods.
“We need to create pathways to resolve the imbalances. Hence, we are working to empower the weakest links in our society to address these imbalances,” he said.
The visit provided an opportunity for both organisations to exchange ideas, learn more about each other’s work.
