The Integrated Social Development Centre (ISODEC)has urged West African states to leverage the rising global demand for critical minerals to drive the sub-region’s development.
According to ISODEC and other civil society groups within the sub- region, the increasing demand for minerals such as Cobalt, Nickel, Manganese, lithium, and rare earth elements, key inputs for low- carbon technologies, presents a significant opportunity for industrialisation across West Africa.
ISODEC made the call in a Communique issued at the end of a High-level West Africa Conference on Equity in Extraction: Addressing Inequality in Natural Resource Governance, Climate Change, held in Accra.
