Transportation

Getting around Accra is easy with organised airport transfers, taxis and trusted ride-hailing services

Airport Transfers

Airport transfers will be coordinated for fully sponsored participants staying at the designated hotel(s). Participants must share their confirmed flight itinerary with the event secretariat in advance.

On arrival, look out for the designated event or hotel signage after completing immigration, baggage collection and customs procedures.

Participants arranging their own transfers may use airport taxis or recognised ride-hailing services such as Bolt, Uber or Yango.

Local Transportation

Uber, Bolt and Yango are widely used in Accra and are convenient for airport transfers, hotel movements and travel to the venue. Confirm the fare in the app before the journey begins.

Taxis are also available. Shared minibuses, locally called “trotros”, are more affordable but operate fixed routes and may be difficult for first-time visitors to navigate.

Cash and mobile money are the preferred payment methods for many drivers.

Currency

The official currency is the Ghana cedi (GHS). Cards are accepted at many hotels and established businesses, but participants should carry some local currency for small purchases and transport.

Foreign exchange services and ATMs are available at Kotoka International Airport and across Accra.
